Brendan - Reclaim your life and respect

It has taken me 40 years not to fall through the cracks of the mental health system anymore.

Flourish Australia’s belief in me has been life changing. They set me on a new path to reclaiming my life and the respect of my family after mental health issues and addictive behaviour robbed me of so much of my life.

For more than 20 years I was alienated from my family and locked in a cycle of landing in and out of institutions. Now I live in a Flourish Australia shared house where peer support is available to me day and night. I can go to them with anything and they work through it with me.

Thanks to the understanding I receive, I’ve become a completely different person. There was a time my own mum felt uneasy around me. Now she’s proud of my progress and I help with her volunteer work. Living more independently has taught me that if I want to be taken seriously I must make responsible choices.

I think about my future now. I’m sticking to my goal of remaining drug free and going after my dream of becoming an A grade golfer. I feel good about myself for the first time and I want to keep growing and learning. Having people who believe in me gives me the confidence to look for opportunities to share my story and encourage others to make better choices themselves.

I love knowing that my family trust me and can depend on me. If I had my way, everyone in the system would be on the NDIS and out in a Flourish Australia house because they would go from hopelessness to possibility. They don’t give up on you which makes you want to stick at it and keep moving forward in your life.

Our approach to supporting you is different because more than 50% of the people we employ have had their own lived experience of mental health issues and many of them make up our peer workforce. Workplace giving

Workplace giving is a simple way to regularly donate to charities or organisations that are entitled to receive tax deductible donations.

Workplace giving is a great way to donate to your preferred charity directly from your pre-tax income. Help to improve the lives of people in mental health recovery journey by donating regularly to your preferred charity from your pre-tax income.

Why choose workplace giving?

Workplace giving is a simple and effective way to contribute to the community. It’s a win-win-win for employers, staff and charities.

  • Employers enjoy greater staff engagement, retention, productivity, reputation and social impact.
  • Staff contribute in a smarter, tax-effective way and build a sense of pride in their employer.
  • Charities get regular funds, access to valuable skills and strong partnerships.

For employers

Workplace giving is an easy and meaningful way for organisations to support Flourish Australia. By enabling your staff to make regular donations directly from their pre-tax income, they are empowered to support their preferred causes.

It is easy to set up a workplace giving program. For more information, contact us on 1300 779 270 or make an enquiry now.

For employees

All you do is choose a charity and the donation is processed directly from your income. As the tax is calculated each pay minus the donation, you pay less tax resulting in a bigger donation towards our shared cause.

You can even encourage others at your workplace to join, and ask your employer to match your donations.

For more information on how you can make a difference, contact us on 1300 779 270 or make an enquiry now.
