NAIDOC Week 2024: Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud

NAIDOC Week 2024 runs from 7-14 July across Australia, honouring and recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

It’s a chance for all of us to come together and learn about First Nations peoples, while participating in the traditions of the oldest continuously living cultures on earth.

Blak, Loud & Proud: About the the 2024 theme

This year's theme, "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud," celebrates the strength and vitality of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and calls for a reclamation of narratives, an amplification of voices, and an unwavering commitment to justice and equality.

It invites all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully valued and respected.

Events and activities

A range of activities and events are planned throughout the country to celebrate NAIDOC Week. These range from art shows and community festivals to sports competitions and storytelling sessions. Each event is a chance to have fun and learn something new—about First Nations peoples, their traditions and their cultures.

National NAIDOC Week Awards Ceremony

National NAIDOC Week's premiere event is the National NAIDOC Week Awards Ceremony, which showcases Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander excellence.

Previous National NAIDOC Week Award Winners come from many different communities within Australia and have different backgrounds; however, they are all part of NAIDOC history and share remarkable achievements.

So mark your calendars for July 7-14 and get ready to join in the NAIDOC Week celebrations.

From everyone at Flourish Australia, have a fantastic NAIDOC Week. It's a great opportunity to appreciate the rich culture of Australia’s First Nations peoples and to think about how we can all contribute to keeping that cultural fire burning bright.
