Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2025
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival returns from 14 February to 2 March 2025, and is set to deliver an incredible celebration of LGBTIQA+ pride, culture, and community.
The 2025 theme, FREE TO BE, honours the decades-long fight for equality that helped inspire Sydney’s inaugural Mardi Gras Festival in 1978. Attendees can expect bold self-expression, radical inclusivity, and a euphoric sense of unity at a festival brimming with unforgettable moments celebrating the power of love, resilience, and visibility.
With a line-up that is as rich and varied as ever, this year’s program offers more than 80 events that will showcase and celebrate all the diverse elements of Sydney’s LGBTIQA+ communities.
Returning signature events include the sizzling Sissy Ball, the captivating Kaftana Pool Party, the lol-filled Laugh Out Proud, the vibrant Paradiso Pool Party, the iconic Mardi Gras Party, and of course the renowned Laneway Festival.
Iconic parade set to stun
A highlight for many festivalgoers over the decades, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade will hit the streets in spectacular fashion on 1 March, promising parade-goers an innovative and unique block party experience.
Other events not to miss include award-winning DJs and producers, food, retail, community stalls, queer karaoke, exhibitions, experiences, and performances, comedy, theatre, cabaret and much, much more.
More than just a celebration
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and other inclusive events like it are more than just celebrations – although they’re certainly celebratory.
But they’re also powerful and impactful platforms for visibility, inclusion, and change. They’re opportunities for all of Australia’s communities to come together and show their support for diversity in all its forms. By doing so, we can play a role in breaking down stigma and ending discrimination.
