MOTHERS battling severe mental health issues are being supported through their darkest days at a private sanctuary in Blacktown.
Women like Taylah Griffiths, 22, who paid tribute to Flourish Australia’s Women and Children’s program for turning her life around at its 10th anniversary celebration this month.
Ms Griffiths had just given birth to her first child — a boy named Ethan — when her partner Lachlan’s bipolar spiralled out of control, sparking the return of her own anxiety problems.
“I hadn’t had my mental illness come back to me for three years,” she said.
“It wasn’t safe for me to live in Lachlan’s house anymore. We heard of this program and I applied.”
Ms Griffiths said she was in a “dark place” when she joined the program 17 months ago, but the support she received meant she returned to live with Lachlan in Quakers Hill earlier this year.
