Women’s Health Week is here - September 5-11, with more than 2300 events and activities happening to promote the wellbeing of women, girls and gender-diverse people. A reminder for women everywhere to take practical steps toward self-care and better health.
Women’s Health Week is now in its 10th year and the theme for 2022 is “It’s all about you”, empowering women to prioritise taking time to focus on their individual needs and wellbeing. To ensure that the campaign’s ‘self-care’ messaging reaches as many women as possible, from diverse backgrounds, it is being broadcast in 10 different languages, resources including accessible and Indigenous editions.
This week is about increasing awareness of the most pressing health issues for women, and encouraging all women to take control of their health and wellness by prioritising check-ups to help reduce health risks.
Flourish Australia’s Women and Children’s Program, like many of our recovery-focused services, is dedicated to supporting women with complex mental health issues to thrive in their lives, and we recognise that physical and mental health go hand in hand. Mental wellbeing is among the top five women’s health issues being addressed during Women’s Health Week 2022, along with menopause and perimenopause, pelvic health, health checks and physical activity.
