NAIDOC WEEK 2022

NAIDOC Week returns for 2022 and will take place from July 3 – July 10.

Celebrated every July, NAIDOC week is a chance for all Australians to reflect, celebrate, and learn about the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year's theme is ‘Get up! Stand up! Show up!’ which calls for systematic changes to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders. Those changes include proper environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling and calling out racism.

NAIDOC Week calls on all Australians, not just Indigenous communities to be part of making those changes.

This year’s NAIDOC celebrations will see a return to many in person events which were COVID impacted in 2020 and 2021.

The NAIDOC Week website has a calendar of events across all states and territories. There are colouring in posters to download, NAIDOC Week programs available on SBS/NITV and AVC, and music or podcasts to listen to as well.

Indigenous Australians face unique mental health challenges and at a rate higher than the general population. In 2019, the rate of Indigenous Australians reporting ‘high or very high’ levels of psychological distress was 2.3 times the rate for non-Indigenous Australians, based on age-standardised rates.

All Flourish Australia services are culturally appropriate. We work in close consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and service providers, so that we can connect people with the most suitable support services for their specific needs.

Flourish Australia acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, sea and waterways upon which we live and work. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and recognise their strong and continuing connection to land, culture and spirit.
