Celebrate Trans Month and Trans Awareness week 2024

November is Trans Month, dedicated to celebrating the resilience, wellbeing, and wholeness of transgender, gender-diverse and non-binary communities in Australia.

Trans Month was launched this year by Transgender Victoria, the state’s leading body for transgender, gender diverse and non-binary people. Under the theme of “Our Strength, Our Joy, Ourselves,” Trans Month 2024 will feature a range of trans-centric events and initiatives that everyone can enjoy – whether you're transgender, gender diverse, non-binary or an ally.

The program kicks off with the Gender Revel Gala at Collingwood Town Hall on 1 November and concludes with the Trans Pride Picnic on 30 November. Other exciting and enjoyable events include a Trans Parent Morning Tea, a Roller Derby Pride Cup, and a Trans and Gender Diverse Networking Night

Trans Awareness Week

Trans Awareness Week is held from 13-19 November, the week leading up to Trans Day of Remembrance, to help raise awareness of trans and gender diverse people, the issues facing these communities, and the ways people can get involved as allies to improve lives and create a more fair and equal world for everyone.

Trans Day of Remembrance

Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on 20 November that honours the memory of the trans lives lost to acts of transphobia and discrimination. It’s an opportunity to commemorate those who’ve been lost, celebrate community strength in the face of adversity, and commit to fighting transphobia to create a better, safer, and more inclusive world for everyone.

How to get involved

There are many ways to get involved in Trans Month 2024. This includes becoming a Gala Sponsor, running an event, or volunteering at events throughout the month. Visit Transgender Victoria for more information and opportunities.

About Flourish

At Flourish we help people with a lived experience feel supported and meet their everyday challenges. We want them to live ordinary, even extraordinary lives.

We have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, and aim to work with people in ways that are culturally safe, respectful and free from discrimination – ensuring fair, equitable, just and non-prejudicial treatment.

We are a proud member of ACON's Welcome Here Project, which supports businesses and services throughout Australia to create and promote environments that are visibly welcoming and inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) communities.
