The 2022 Winter Olympics got underway last Friday.
Taking place from February 4-20, the 20 th edition of the Winter Olympics is being hosted in Beijing, China.
Over the course of 16 days, 109 events across 7 sports such as ice skating, curling, skiing and snowboarding (with a total of 15 different disciplines) will be held.
Australia has sent to Beijing a team consisting of 43 athletes, while we may not have the climate needed to foster the same sort of success seen in the Summer Olympics, two medals have already been won by Australian competitors after 5 days of competition, with several genuine medal contenders yet to compete.
The team has already picked up its first gold medal in over a decade with skier Jakara Anthony winning the Women's Moguls event on day 3.
Snowboarder Tess Coady also won a bronze medal in the Women’s Slopestyle competition.
