There are young mums in need who you can help to provide a safe, happy home and bright future for their children. These are mums like Helena who are breaking free of domestic violence, at risk of homelessness and losing their children, and in need of our help to overcome their mental health struggles.
Helena is among the many remarkable mums transforming her life with the support of the Flourish Australia Women & Children’s Program, and I’d like to share a little of her journey with you.
When Helena gave birth within a domestic violence situation, The Department of Communities and Justice became involved in her life and she was presented with the option of participating in a recovery program in order to keep her newborn son, just three weeks old. Helena accepted this lifeline and, arriving with nothing but the clothes they were wearing, they were able to move into one of our secure onsite cottages with 24/7 support as part of as part of our Women & Children’s Program.
The accommodation is fully furnished with everything they need to feel safe and at home while Helena takes steps toward mental wellbeing with the support of our dedicated team and free courses in parenting, budgeting, healthy relationships and other important life skills.
Connecting with other mums in our therapeutic garden and gaining a fresh perspective on possibilities for her family’s future through the Flourish Australia Women & Children’s Program has given Helena the gift of hope.
